Have you ever wanted to show up at a party or event with something everyone was talking about? That is exactly what happened to me when I brought these beautiful treats into my daughter's class for her birthday. It is an adorable fall treat and can be used for any occasion.
What you will need:
Rice Krispies Treats
(I cheated and bought them pre-made because I made them the night before)
Oreos Cookies
(Regular and mini sized)
Vanilla icing
(2 or more containers it's never good to run out)
Red M&M's
Food coloring
Gel icing
(Black)
Cake decorating items
(I used The Pampered Chef Decorator Bottle Set. They are super easy to use.)
Getting Started
Icing
Divide the white
icing into 3 separate bowls and color as shown below.
1 container ¼ container ¾
container
Yellow Orange Green
Once you have your
yellow and orange well blended separately add some orange to the yellow. This will give it the darker yellow look of a
sunflower. Hint: If you do not blend completely it is ok. Slight orange streaks in the yellow give a
great effect.
Once everything is
mixed add the orange colored yellow to your cake decorator and use a basket
weave tip. You can use a smoother tip
but, this is what I used. Then add the
green icing to a separate decorator and use a rosette tip.
Oreo Sunflowers
Once you have your
icing ready it is time to decorate!
Grab a large oreo to get started. Start about a ¼ of an inch from the edge of the orea with your yellow icing. To make the petals squeeze bag or decorator firmly when you start and slowly release the bag as you pull away to create the point of the flower petal. You may have to practice a while but, eating the rejects is so much fun!

Stack
Now that the oreos
have petals it is time to place the flowers on the rice krispies treat. Squirt a glob of icing on the treat where you
want to place the flower then set the flower on top of it. When the icing begins to set it will act as a
glue and hold it together.
Once the flowers have
been placed get your red M&M’s out and place one on each large oreo. Use the same method of ‘gluing’ with icing as
you did the flowers. Don’t use too much
or it will squirt out around the ‘ladybug’.
Final Touches
Now it is time for
the final touches!
Using your green
icing make leaves in between the flowers.
Use the same method as you did with the sunflower petals. If you are lucky it will take you a few tries
to get it down and you will be forced to sacrifice more rejects to the kingdom
or your belly.
Next it is time to
decorate the ‘ladybug’ (your red M&M).
Take the black gel icing and make a small line or semi-circle for the black
head. Add small black dots for the spots
and voila! You have a lady bug! If you are really talented you might be able
to add a black line down the center of the bug to separate the wings but, I
found that it just made things look messy on mine.
Be sure to let your treats set out for a little while so the icing has a chance to set up a bit.
Congratulations! Your snacks are going to be the talk of the
party!
Do you have any great
suggestions for this snack or others?
Share it here with a
comment, we LOVE to hear from you!

They look awesome! What a great idea. I will be making them soon for an event.
Thanks Jayne! They sure impressed the preschoolers and teachers. They are fun to make too. Let us know how it goes!
These are beautiful! WOW!
Thanks! They were not so cute after the kids were done deconstructing them but, they enjoyed destroying and devouring one layer at a time. Great fun.
